Tiffany is a mom of a beautiful 8-year-old daughter who has been struggling with finding the appropriate mental health resources after experiencing being apart from her father due to abuse. Tiffany, being the amazing mom, she is, has been trying to look for the best mental health resources for her daughter and ultimately decided that the best decision would be to relocate to North Carolina. Tiffany also suffers from a chronic illness and feels that North Carolina may be able to provide the appropriate healthcare for both her and her daughter. Due to this condition, employment is hard to maintain and the main source of income comes from government benefits. This leaves Tiffany needing extra support to afford the costs of hiring movers since her condition makes it hard to do the move on her own. We are requesting $500 to cover the deposit of the movers to help Tiffany and her daughter start their new adventure in their new home in North Carolina.

Mr. Murray is currently experiencing homeless here in Richmond, VA at Caritas. He works part-time at Rainbow as a cashier but is wanting more and would like to broaden his skills. Caritas offers forklift training once a month and they are able to be certified and possibly have more job marketability in the future. He would greatly appreciate the communities help with the $95 fee.

Mandy and her daughter have been working with Safe Harbor for over 2 years. We have celebrated her daughter’s birthday every fall and this year, Mandy is ready for self-supported housing. Mandy and her case manager are going through the rapid rehousing process, and when she is accepted into housing, the landlord requires an administrative fee. While rapid rehousing covers first month’s rent and deposit, it does not cover this fee. Safe Harbor is requesting donations so we can give Mandy and her daughter the home they deserve. Our goal is to move them into their new home by the end of the summer.

Ms. Trader, an ambitious environmental analyst by-training, is currently experiencing homelessness and without a job to maintain her daily life. Necessary to communicate with potential employers, as we all experience on a day to day basis, is a phone. Throughout her experience of displacement, Ms. Trader has been unable to save the money necessary to acquire a functional means of communication. Fulfilling this need would help Ms. Trader reenter the workforce and contribute to society in the meaningful, positive way she desires.

Ms. Carroll, a diligent and bounce-back type of person, was recently laid off from her job due to a reduction in force. Attempting to reenter her field, she finds herself in need of non-slip shoes as required by her new employer but without the means to buy them independently. These shoes, though they might seem small, serve as a stepping stone towards self-sufficiency and independence. The shoes beget a job; the job brings income; income opens doors to housing; housing creates stability.

Ms. Bates, a survivor of trauma and homelessness, is actively working to restart her life. Finding herself in this current socioeconomic displacement, without support, she realizes the choice between meeting her basic needs for survival and rebuilding versus maintaining what she once had. With support, however, she has the capacity to retain her personal belongings in storage until she can regain self-sufficiency and obtain permanent housing.

Ms. Karla is a dedicated woman involved in intensive case managmenet and workforce development within the CARITAS Shelter and Works programs. After caring for her parents for several years until their death, Ms. Karla found herself homeless and jobless with nowhere to turn. Forced to put her remaining items in storage and enter shelter, she actively tries to rebuild her life. Supporting her storage unit would ensure that she has a few wordly possessions remaining when she eventually builds back up to a home and a job.

Ms. Shannon recently entered emergency shelter and is trying to get her life back on track. Following unstable employment and medical challenges, she finds herself without income or resources to navigate her crisis. To reestablish hope, she ultimately needs to be able to see the future - figuratively and literally. Ms. Shannon asks for a token of support to help her fill her eyeglasses prescription. This assistance will aid her to better her job, housing, and stability prospects.

Joanne is a hardworking single mom to a disabled fourteen year old who depends on the family car to attend many visits with doctors and specialists. The a/c is currently on the fritz and needs a repair. This repair will enable them to be able to continue to travel in the summer heat to many medical appointments.

The Webster family, a large household is currently in need of assistance to purchase an air conditioning unit for their home. Among the family members is a child with a disability, making access to a cool and comfortable environment especially important for their health, and overall well-being. Your support will help provide the Webster family with a safe and healthy living environment during the hottest months of the year. An air conditioning unit will offer relief from extreme temperatures, improve indoor air quality, and create a more stable and comfortable space for the entire family.

Ms. Cartagena recently missed the deadline to complete and submit her energy assistance application. Without support from the Energy Assistance Program, Ms. Cartagena is unable to meet her monthly utility expenses and is at risk of having her electricity disconnected. As temperatures continue to rise, so does the concern for her health and safety. Ms. Cartagena relies on electricity to properly store her insulin in the refrigerator and to power her nebulizer for her evening breathing treatments. A loss of electricity would create a serious health risk and could negatively impact her ability to manage her medical conditions. Ms. Cartagena is seeking assistance to prevent utility disconnection and maintain access to these essential, life-sustaining resources.

Ms. Krista recently moved out of shelter into a place on her own. After working with the case management team to obtain a new job, pay off arrears, and obtain benefits, she now finds herself unable to balance both rent and furnishing her apartment. This support would allow Ms. Krista to make her new apartment feel like a home instead of a source of isolation, allowing her to continue fighting depression and fear.

Ms. Yvette has mutliple physical health conditions which limit her ability to work and maintain her bills. After receiving support from families and congregations, she finds herself soon to lose her storage unit which contains her final belongings after bouncing between rooms to rent, couches, and her car. Upon working with her CARITAS case manager, she identified a voucher-based housing program to which she will soon transition. Supporting this need helps that transition to housing come with the memories she has of her family and friends.

Karen is a 54-year-old woman who is seeking to move away from her abuser. Despite her ongoing hardships, Karen has continued to be a student at a nearby college, which makes it hard to balance work and school. She needs assistance in being able to afford her new home. Safe Harbor would like to alleviate Karen's stress and pay for her deposit.

Mr. Gutierrez is a native of El Salvador, who has been living in Richmond for over 16 years. Currently he has been living in Caritas experiencing homelessness. He speaks little English but is in dire need of shoes because his current pair, the soles are starting to come apart. He wears a size 15 so he was unable to find shoes at any clothing closet in the area that would fit. Therefore, he is requesting the community for help in obtaining a comfortable pair of walking shoes.

Because of his obligations, he decided to make a payment plan to pay for his federal taxes but with the interest accruing each day, he needs assistance paying off his bill, so that he can focus his attention on permanent housing. He would greatly appreciate the communities help with alleviating this burdensome bill.

My name is Mr. Price, and I currently reside in an emergency homeless shelter in Richmond, Virginia. I previously worked as a delivery driver for UberEats, but unfortunately, I was involved in an auto accident (caused by another driver) and as a result, I am unable to keep up with payments for my personal belongings currently being held in a Public Storage facility. At this time, any assistance would be greatly appreciated as I continue on my journey of becoming financially independent.
