Despite her efforts to remain financially stable, she has exhausted her emergency savings and is struggling to keep up with her monthly expenses. Janay is seeking financial assistance to help cover her rent and maintain stable housing as she navigates this unexpected setback and works toward regaining financial stability. We are requesting $500 to cover a portion of Janay's rental payment during this time that would provide much-needed relief and help prevent further housing insecurity.

Now, Ms. Billie has an opportunity to work as a Patient Care Technician, a job that could help her earn an income, work toward securing housing, and regain her independence. But first, she needs a set of scrubs to get started.

Having appropriate footwear is essential for her to show up to work comfortably, do her job, and continue working toward financial independence.

After nearly a year of homelessness, Adeline has moved into stable housing. She’s grateful for a safe place to call home, but she’s still working to get the basic necessities she needs to feel secure and comfortable. Right now, the shared refrigerator in her living space is full, leaving her little room to store milk, produce, leftovers, and other perishable food. A small refrigerator of her own would make a big difference in helping her keep fresh groceries and maintain access to nutritious meals.

As a single mother not receiving child support, Ti'Eja does her best to supplement the full time human resources job she has by also working part time. Recently, her part time employer cut positions, so she is left trying to fill in the gaps of an already stretched budget. Assistance in keeping the lights on at her apartment will allow Ti'Eja to care for a young daughter and continue the search for stability.

Mr. Henderson is currently experiencing homelessness, and right now, he needs assistance keeping his cell phone service connected. When you're without a home, a working phone can be a lifeline. It can mean being able to answer an employer's call, reach someone who can help, find resources, stay connected to loved ones, and respond when an important opportunity comes along. For Mr. Henderson, losing his phone service would create another painful barrier at a time when he is already facing so much uncertainty.

Mr. Artis is a 62-year-old male who is experiencing homelessness. He is a current resident at Caritas' The Healing Place seeking recovery. He is an exceptional employee at Walmart which allowed him to take some time off to seek recovery and better himself. Nonetheless, he has to return to work by the end of September in order to retain his job. Caritas has provided some funds, but it did not cover the entire move-in fees. Therefore, he is seeking assistance from the community in order to pay for his apartment application fee and remaining move-in fees in order to have a safe place to stay while continuing his recovery efforts and maintaining his job at Walmart.

Mr. Taliaferro is a vibrant 25-year-old who as of last week, he is a brand-new father. He currently works at Southern Kitchen and just obtained another part-time job in efforts to support his newfound family. He is a current resident at the Caritas Emergency Shelter, but he is striving for excellence especially since he has a newborn baby girl. Therefore, he is requesting assistance paying for his application fee for a property that is willing to accept and approve him so that he can transition out of the shelter into permanent housing. His ultimate goal is to provide stability for his new bundle of joy and would appreciate the community's assistance in doing so.

After experiencing a car accident and denied treatment at a local hospital, David has finally found the care he deserves. David has a monthly medical bill to tackle and it would help David and his family have peace of mind to have this covered.

Mr. Porter is a 26-year-old young individual who is currently experiencing homelessness. He is coming a foster care environment and has been figuring life out on his own since he has no family. He is currently living at the Caritas Emergency Shelter after being evicted from his apartment because he had lost his job and was not able to maintain. Since the transition to the Emergency Shelter, he has misplaced a couple of items in which one is his Birth Certificate. He is attempting to obtain all of his vital documents so that he can start applying for jobs so that he can save for his next permanent place that he can call home. Therefore, he is requesting assistance with paying for his Birth Certificate fees since he has to order online because he was born in Michigan.

Mr. Chappell is requesting the help of the community to pay for his application fee for his new apartment. He has been with Caritas since July and is working on securing a permanent place to call home in Richmond. He found himself in Richmond after he moved from New York to North Carolina to take care of his siter who had health issues. Sadly, his sister passed and the original goal was to relocate to Richmond with another sibling but that did not happen. Therefore, he ended up at the Caritas Emergency Shelter for a safe haven. He is a vibrant individual who enjoys making other people happy by his cooking abilities. His ultimate goal after becoming established in the area, is to start up a restaurant or cooking business to cook and make his fellow community "full". Therefore, he is requesting assistance with his application fee for an apartment he really wants.

With back-to-school expenses and sports fees piling up, Cassandra stretched every dollar as far as it could go, but the sudden surge in her electricity bills pushed her tight budget past its limit. Even after prioritizing immediate needs and cutting back, her smallest payments weren't enough to prevent a notice of disconnection. Receiving this support keeps the power running and lifts an overwhelming weight from her shoulders, giving her family the security and warmth they need to focus on school, stay organized, and thrive.

Ms. Moten is a young single mother doing everything she can to provide for her child while working toward a more stable life. Currently homeless, she is working towards getting a job to support them both. Like so many mothers, she puts her child’s needs first and often goes without the things she needs for herself. Ms. Moten needs new shoes and clothes, as well as financial assistance with daycare. Reliable childcare is especially important because it gives her the ability to work, pursue opportunities, and continue providing for her child.

Ms. Fisher is only 20 years old. She should be focused on building her future, finishing her education, and figuring out who she wants to become. Instead, she was kicked out of her home by her parents and is now facing the overwhelming reality of trying to navigate life without the support and stability of her family. Losing her home has been especially painful. Yet despite being forced into circumstances she never asked for, Ms. Fisher is still fighting for her future. One of her biggest goals is completing her GED. She knows that earning her GED can help her access better employment opportunities and take important steps toward becoming financially independent and securing stable housing.

Ms. Tompkins has survived more than most people will ever know. After experiencing homelessness and domestic violence, she has worked hard to rebuild her life and create a more stable future for herself. As a former military spouse, she has spent years supporting others and putting responsibilities ahead of her own needs. For someone who has fought so hard to get back on her feet, something as simple as a proper uniform can make a tremendous difference. It means being prepared for work, showing up with confidence, and taking another step toward stability and self-sufficiency.

Mr. Louis is a 59-year-old who unfortunately is experiencing homelessness. He had a stable life in Houston, TX before agreeing to move back to Richmond to take care of his mother-in-law. He maintained for over 3 years living and taking care of her until unfortunately his mother-in-law passed in 2026 and the family decided to sell the house which was his home. Hence, he is a current resident of Caritas and has been attempting to establish stability again. He is currently working at DHL and is attempting to save up for his new place. Therefore, he is requesting the community's assistance with his apartment application in hopes of approval and a better future out of the shelter.

Ms. Burton has been through an incredibly difficult chapter. She has experienced homelessness while working hard to survive and build a better life for herself. She has worked as a truck driver in a male-dominated industry, taking on demanding work and pushing through challenges that would be difficult for anyone. After being separated from her loved ones, Ms. Burton has finally reconnected with her family in Newark, New Jersey. They are ready to welcome her home, and she finally has the opportunity to be reunited with the people she loves. For Ms. Burton, this isn't just a bus ride. It's the chance to finally leave behind a period of homelessness and uncertainty and walk back into the arms of her family. It's the chance to sit with her loved ones, feel supported, and start rebuilding her life surrounded by the people who care about her. After everything she has endured and all the hard work she has put in to keep going, she deserves the chance to make it home.

Mr. Jones is a 38-year-old male who unfortunately is experiencing homelessness. He found himself at Caritas Men's Emergency Shelter after suffering a mental health crisis which he ended up losing his apartment and his job. Currently, he is seeking stability by regularly attending his appointments at Richmond Behavioral Health, and he has been attempting to work temporary placements until his finds another full-time job. Therefore, he is seeking assistance with paying for his application fee for an apartment that he really likes and hopes to be approved and exit the shelter and return back to a life of normalcy.

Mr. Price is a vibrant individual who enjoys helping others, but unfortunately, he is experiencing homelessness. Being a native of Texas, he moved to Virginia for better opportunities, so he decided to share an apartment with a roommate. The roommate lost their job, and Mr. Price was unable to maintain the entire rent cost. Currently, Mr. Price has just been offered a job with a juvenile correctional facility so that he can encourage the youth to explore other options and not end up in the Criminal Justice System as an adult. He is now in training and has not received his first paycheck but wants to start the process of exiting the shelter and transitioning to permanent housing solo. Therefore, he is seeking the community's assistance paying for his application fee.

Ms. Beverly, like many of us, is a hardworking, diligent woman dedicated to maintaining her sobriety. Currently in recovery housing, she hopes to obtain assistance maintaining her bed fees. In the midst of everchanging life circumstances, she fell slightly behind and needs assistance catching back up. This support will allow her to maintain physical shelter as well as emotional peace, both of which contribute to her main goal of sustaining recovery for herself and her peers.
