Mr. Jones is a 38-year-old male who unfortunately is experiencing homelessness. He found himself at Caritas Men's Emergency Shelter after suffering a mental health crisis which he ended up losing his apartment and his job. Currently, he is seeking stability by regularly attending his appointments at Richmond Behavioral Health, and he has been attempting to work temporary placements until his finds another full-time job. Therefore, he is seeking assistance with paying for his application fee for an apartment that he really likes and hopes to be approved and exit the shelter and return back to a life of normalcy.

Ms. Beverly, like many of us, is a hardworking, diligent woman dedicated to maintaining her sobriety. Currently in recovery housing, she hopes to obtain assistance maintaining her bed fees. In the midst of everchanging life circumstances, she fell slightly behind and needs assistance catching back up. This support will allow her to maintain physical shelter as well as emotional peace, both of which contribute to her main goal of sustaining recovery for herself and her peers.

Ms. Reed is currently experiencing homelessness, and right now, she needs our help with something many of us take for granted: keeping her cell phone service connected. When you're without a home, a working phone can be a lifeline. It can mean being able to answer an employer's call, reach someone who can help, find resources, stay connected to loved ones, and respond when an important opportunity comes along. For Ms. Reed, losing her phone service would create another painful barrier at a time when she is already facing so much uncertainty.

Mr. Chappell is a current resident of Caritas Men's Emergency Shelter. He is experiencing homeless after he uprooted his life in New York to take care of his dying sister in North Carolina. After she passed, his goal was to move to Richmond and stay with his older sister until he was able to get back on his feet. However, those plans failed which ended him at Caritas. Since July, he has been working diligently at a construction company to save up for his next residence. However, he is falling short of our help and is requesting 815 so that he can secure his next apartment and end his homelessness.

George and Evelyn recently closed a very difficult chapter of their lives. After spending nine months living in their car, this elderly couple finally has the safety and stability of a permanent home. They are grateful for the fresh start, but their apartment is still unfurnished. During their months of homelessness, their beloved dogs stayed faithfully by their side, providing constant companionship and comfort. George and Evelyn are hoping to secure a bed that they can share with their dogs. Your generosity can help make their new beginning feel more like home.

Transitioning to a new school can be challenging, especially when families are learning new systems and navigating unfamiliar processes. In this case, the family did not realize their child was not receiving free school meals, and the lunch balance gradually grew into a significant bill before they became aware of it. Now that the student is receiving free lunch, the family is working hard to pay down the outstanding balance while also keeping up with current household needs. Support with a portion of the lunch debt would help ease this burden and allow the family’s limited funds to continue going toward both the remaining balance and essential needs.

Mr. Pearce is a resident at Caritas and is experiencing homelessness for the very first time. His previous experiencing includes accounting and management of various fast-food restaurants. He is a native of New Jersey but moved to Richmond so that he can be closer to his only daughter. Rather than being a "burden" he chose to seek help at the shelter until he is able to plant roots in Richmond. Therefore, he is seeking help from the community so that he can gain another skill and make himself more marketable. He is requesting help to pay for the forklift certification fee so that he can apply for more jobs and find security.

Mr. Nelson is currently experiencing homelessness and is residing at the Caritas Men's Emergency Shelter. He works part-time flagging and doing road closures, however, he would like to gain an additional skill so that he can possibly find a full-time job in a warehouse setting. Therefore, he is seeking help and asking the community to help him pay for his forklift certification fee so that he can obtain a full-time job and be able to move out of the shelter into his own permanent place.

Mr. Postlewait is a hard-working individual who unfortunately has been experiencing homelessness. He has a seasonal job with VCU catering when school is in session, but he was without work for the entire summer which ended him at the emergency shelter. Therefore, he is seeking additional skills in obtaining his forklift certification so that when school ends, he will have an additional skill to provide income whenever he is on break from VCU.

Ms. Paffen is a survivor of domestic violence who is currently experiencing homelessness. Despite the tremendous challenges she has faced, she continues to move forward with determination, resilience, and hope. She is a successful grant writer with valuable professional skills and experience, and she is actively seeking employment so she can rebuild stability and independence. Right now, something as simple as a phone bill could make an enormous difference in her ability to do that. We are asking for financial support to pay Ms. Paffen’s phone bill, keeping her phone service active so she can receive calls, messages, and interview opportunities from potential employers. For someone looking for work, being unreachable can mean missing the one call that could change everything.

Ms. Summers is a kind, resilient, and deserving person who is doing her best to manage a difficult situation. She has touched the lives of those around her and deserves support, stability, and peace of mind. After living in her vehicle for 11 months shes now joined us in shelter. At this time, Ms. Summers needs help covering the payment for her storage facility. Keeping her belongings safely stored is important, but the cost has become a financial burden. Without assistance, she may risk losing access to the items she has worked hard to keep.

Ms. Carson is an incredible woman who deserves to feel warm, comfortable, and cared for this winter. She is kind, resilient, and a wonderful person who has touched the lives of those around her. This winter, we want to make sure she has a warm, quality coat that fits her properly. Because of her body size, finding a suitable coat through typical clothing donations can be extremely difficult. While donated clothing is often available, coats in the right size and style are much harder to come by.

Maya is a survivor of human trafficking who is working hard to rebuild stability and move forward in her life. Right now, she needs assistance covering her phone bill to ensure her service remains active. For a survivor, having a working phone is more than a convenience. It allows Maya to stay connected with her support system, communicate with service providers, manage important appointments, access resources, and reach out for help when she needs it. Safe Harbor is hoping to raise $210 to cover Maya’s phone bill and ensure she can maintain this important connection.

Mr. Hall is a 68-year-old male who is experiencing homelessness. When he arrived at the Caritas Men's Emergency Shelter, he only has shower shoes. A nurse suggested we get him a pair of walking shoes because she is afraid that he might fall since he uses a rollator for mobility. Therefore, he is asking the community for help in buying a new pair of stable walking shoes.

Mr. Hall is a 68-year-old male who is experiencing homelessness. He was recently hospitalized and was given prescriptions to take after his discharge. He currently has Medicare, but it required a copay for his medications. Therefore, he is requesting help from the community to cover his copay cost.

She is working to regain stability, but she needs appropriate work clothing to continue doing her job. We are seeking financial assistance to purchase the clothing she needs. Mr. Jenkins is a 63-yeard-old gentleman who is experiencing homelessness for the first time. He was working for Amazon but was let go for too many "errors". Currently, he is residing at the Caritas Emergency Shelter and has an opportunity to obtain permanent housing. He has been approved for his retirement through Social Security, but his first payment will be after his first month and security deposits are due. Therefore, he is seeking the communities help in paying for his first month deposit to jumpstart his new era of enjoying his retirement.

Ms Burton is a hardworking older woman who has spent her life driving eighteen wheelers across the country. Being an underdog in a male dominated profession she took pride in performing at the top of her field. A shoulder injury caused Ms. Burton to lose her employment, and her home. She is currently experiencing homelessness and had to move her belongings to a storage facility. She has an offer for a job, but in the interim needs help paying her storage unit fees. Please help Ms Burton keep her possessions she worked so hard for.
