He is currently working at Beauvine Burger Concept part-time and pursing his passion with IT Tech support. He recently experienced an incident where the GRTC ran over his foot so currently he is not able to work because he is going through PT so that he is able to gain his full mobility without assistance. His old pair of glasses were lost in his transition from shelter to shelter, and he is in need of contacts or glasses so that he will be able to see the order screen when he returns to work and so that he can see the computer screen when he continues his work in IT. Currently he is not able to pay for a new pair of contacts/glasses because the money that he had saved is going towards co-payments for this PT. A gift from the Giving Wall will give him the capacity to return to some normalcy and be able to support his 2 children.

At this time, she is unable to afford the $45 monthly cost required to activate and maintain her phone service. This expense presents a significant barrier to her continued progress and ability to sustain employment.

Rachel is a single mother of 2 children. They recently left a domestic violence situation with her husband/son's father. Her son was diagnosed with a rare blood disorder, so he needs around the clock care, which makes it hard for Rachel to work regular hours. Her teenage daughter was also kidnapped and assaulted last year, and she continues to struggle with her mental health. Both children are autistic. Rachel is a cancer survivor and says that was the easiest part of her life compared to the issues her family is now facing. She is in search of cheaper rental options but is finding it challenging because of the cost of breaking the lease and the current exorbitant rental market. Assistance with her power bill will keep the lights on and provide hope in the midst of what feels like a very dark time in her life.

As she is matched with ongoing housing subsidy, coverage of her electricity costs would allow Miranda to move into stable housing and provide for her child.

Falona is currently a participant at the CARITAS Women's Emergency Shelter attempting to regain financial and housing stability. Upon relocating to Richmond, she began experiencing homelessness as savings and income became depleted. Focused on rebuilding her life, Falona engages with CARITAS' Works program and Job Club to identify and apply for sustaining employment. To better that goal, Falona needs support to obtain a Forklift License.

In our Human Trafficking Shelter, two residents, Miranda and Elena, have the opportunity to participate in a six-week therapeutic art group designed to help individuals process grief through hands-on creative work. Janine reached out to Safe Harbor in early February for assistance with housing and regaining custody of her 2 children. The judge initially granted custody to Janine's ex/abuser and claimed she did not have enough room for her kids because she was living in her mother's basement . While the custody agreement has since been resolved, Janine is still worried about having safe and affordable housing for her family.
