Christy Coates received Storage Bill

Partner: Caritas

Advisor: Donnell Wright

Ms. Coates, wheelchair-bound and living in an emergency shelter, receives a small, fixed income due to her disability, but it’s barely enough to cover her basic needs. She’s on the brink of securing permanent housing through our Rapid Rehousing program, but there’s a heartbreaking catch: without additional funding, she risks losing the few personal belongings she has left to storage vendors. These items—each one holding precious memories and a sense of dignity—are all she has in a world that has often been unkind to her. Losing them would feel like losing a part of herself. We are urgently reaching out to the community for help to ensure she doesn’t face the devastating loss of her belongings, just as she’s starting to rebuild her life. Your support could mean the difference between her finding a home with her memories intact or losing everything she holds dear.

Mr. Underwood received needs your support for the care of his aging parents

Partner: Peter Paul Development Center

Advisor: Tasha Moore

Mr. Underwood is caring for his aging parents. His father recently suffered a stroke that left him unable to work, significantly reducing the additional income into the home. Mr. Underwood works part time for a non-profit organization helping to support youth and families. Over the holiday season, the organization was closed with no payment for part-time staff. Additionally, as many Richmonder's experienced days of power outages/water loss due to winter storms, Mr. Underwood lost weeks of work due to his employer being closed. This extended financial hardship caused Mr. Underwood to receive a garnishment that further reduces his incoming income. Mr. Underwood's need may be a larger ask from The Giving Wall community than normal, however any support towards his posted hardship will be received with gratitude!
