Ms. Karla is a dedicated woman involved in intensive case managmenet and workforce development within the CARITAS Shelter and Works programs. After caring for her parents for several years until their death, Ms. Karla found herself homeless and jobless with nowhere to turn. Forced to put her remaining items in storage and enter shelter, she actively tries to rebuild her life. Supporting her storage unit would ensure that she has a few wordly possessions remaining when she eventually builds back up to a home and a job.

Ms. Bates needs support mantaining her belongings while rebuilding her life.

Ms. Bates, a survivor of trauma and homelessness, is actively working to restart her life. Finding herself in this current socioeconomic displacement, without support, she realizes the choice between meeting her basic needs for survival and rebuilding versus maintaining what she once had. With support, however, she has the capacity to retain her personal belongings in storage until she can regain self-sufficiency and obtain permanent housing.

Ms. Carroll, a diligent and bounce-back type of person, was recently laid off from her job due to a reduction in force. Attempting to reenter her field, she finds herself in need of non-slip shoes as required by her new employer but without the means to buy them independently. These shoes, though they might seem small, serve as a stepping stone towards self-sufficiency and independence. The shoes beget a job; the job brings income; income opens doors to housing; housing creates stability.

Ms. Trader needs support obtaining a way to communicate with potential emloyers.

Ms. Trader, an ambitious environmental analyst by-training, is currently experiencing homelessness and without a job to maintain her daily life. Necessary to communicate with potential employers, as we all experience on a day to day basis, is a phone. Throughout her experience of displacement, Ms. Trader has been unable to save the money necessary to acquire a functional means of communication. Fulfilling this need would help Ms. Trader reenter the workforce and contribute to society in the meaningful, positive way she desires.

Mr. Murray needs forklift license

Mr. Murray is currently experiencing homeless here in Richmond, VA at Caritas. He works part-time at Rainbow as a cashier but is wanting more and would like to broaden his skills. Caritas offers forklift training once a month and they are able to be certified and possibly have more job marketability in the future. He would greatly appreciate the communities help with the $95 fee.
